Flashback to 1997

Chris Warren heats up in Puerto Rico

After missing most of last season with a knee injury, Rebel point guard Chris Warren used the team's recent Puerto Rico trip to display the type of speed and scoring prowess that led to him being an SEC All-Freshman pick and back-to-back preseason All-SEC selection the last two years.

The 5-foot-10, 168-pound junior scored a game-high 27 points in the win over Kansas State and a game-high 24 in the championship game against No. 5 Villanova. He led all scorers at the O'Reilly Auto Parts Puerto Rico Tip-Off with 22.3 ppg and was named to the All-Tournament Team and honored on ESPN.com's Weekly Watch.

Warren and his Rebel teammates have a few days before their next game, which is a Sunday matinee (3 p.m.) in Oxford against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Oxford: America's cool college town

CNN has figured out what the rest of us already knew, that Oxford is an awesome place. CNN.com's American Road Trips series recently broke down 10 of "America's cool college towns" and topping the list is the home of the Rebels, saying:

On autumn Saturdays when Vaught-Hemingway Stadium is packed with 65,000 whooping fans, it may be tough to associate Oxford with anything but football.

But in a place named for a scholarly English city and that is home to William Faulkner's columned retreat, Rowan Oak, paperbacks take precedence over quarterbacks, especially at Square Books. Its tens of thousands of volumes include autographed copies of works by southern authors like Eudora Welty.

When not reading, residents pedal the city's fast-growing network of bike trails. "I was surprised to learn Mississippi could be so progressive," says Kevin Stuart of Oxford Bicycle Company.

Bowl Season Nears

Ole Miss season ticket holders can go ahead and secure their seats for the various bowl options starting this Monday, Nov. 23 in the OleMissSports.com ticket office. Some bowls provide larger allottments than others, thus ticket availability may be limited pending the final bowl selection on Dec. 6. Therefore, ticket orders may be reduced if necessary. If any remaining tickets are available for non-season ticket holders, purchasing opportunities will be announced at a later date.
