It's not the top 10 of the AVCA Coaches Poll, but the Rebels volleyball team made another top 10 poll on Saturday...one that's seen by millions of people around the world. Allegra Wells and Ole Miss Volleyball made the SportsCenter Top 10 Plays from Friday with a powerful play with a surprising result.
The play (ranked No. 2 on the top 10 plays) came in Ole Miss' match at South Carolina on Friday, Nov. 4. In the second set, Wells went up for a kill and rocketed a powerful attack at a South Carolina defender. The ball hit USC's Lexie Pawlick square in the face, but bounced back up high in the air and back over the net to the Rebel court....to fall just inside the back line for a Gamecock point.
Don't worry Rebel fans, Ole Miss went on to win the match 3-0.

A New Rebel Is Born
Maggie Jane Leila White, daughter of Ole Miss basketball assistant coach Michael White and his wife Kira, was born at 7:51 this morning. She weighs 8 lbs., 1 oz. and is 19.5 inches long.
Maggie joins quite a Rebel family. Michael was a four-year starting point guard in Oxford before entering the coaching ranks, and Kira (formerly Zschau) was an All-SEC volleyball player for the Rebels and graduated from the Ole Miss Law School. It is their fourth child, so they need just one more for a full basketball team!

Two Former Rebels Coaching In Oxford
A pair of former Rebels have recently decided to take the opportunity to remain involved in athletics in the Oxford community as Rachel Wenzel (formerly Kieckhaefer) and Melinda Scruggs were both hired to coach at Lafayette High School. Wenzel and Scruggs will be coaching volleyball and soccer, respectively.
The Oxford Eagle had a great write-up about the two former athletes.
