The College Football Performance Awards recently announced the preseason favorites for their individual position awards, and our own Jesse Grandy was listed among the candidates for top kickoff returner. CFPA honorees are chosen based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. Last year, Dexter McCluster was the National Running Back Award winner, and if the returner of the year trophy is anything like the running back award, Grandy may need to pack some lbs on that 165-pound frame. McCluster's trophy, which he received at this year's Grove Bowl, was a 22-inch crystal tower with an 8-inch crystal football on top and weighed more than the Stanley Cup.
