Former Rebel Golfer Playing For Maine

Former Rebel golfer Jesse Speirs is competing for his home state of Maine in this week's USGA State Team Championship at St. Alban's Country Club in St. Alban's, Mo. near St. Louis.

The field of golfers will play 18 holes on each of three stroke-play rounds Sept. 23-25 (Wednesday-Friday). The two lowest scores from each three-person team constitute the team score for each round. The three-day total is the team’s score for the championship.

Speirs is the second former Rebel to compete in the USGA State Team Championship, as Dori Carter, a two-time All-American for the Rebel women's golf team, led her home state of Georgia to the women's State Team National Championship two weeks ago.
