Countdown To Kickoff: 46 Days

Ole Miss offensive coordinator Red Parker simply called the play "42". A quick-hitter up the middle, tailback Shawn Sykes took the hand-off and scampered 12 yards for the score on 3rd-and-long to help the Rebels knock off Alabama 22-12 in Tuscaloosa in 1988. It was Ole Miss' first win over the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa and caused a brick to be famously thrown through then Tide coach Bill Curry's office window.

Two more interesting facts from the game, Ole Miss knocked off the Tide on the day Alabama dedicated the Bear Bryant Museum and the Rebel defense held the 'Bama offense to zero pass completions in the game.

If you have a suggestion for a favorite player, play or something a little more creative you would like to see featured in the countdown, leave a comment below or shoot me an e-mail at desnowde@olemiss.edu.
