Countdown To Kickoff: 52 Days

Today's countdown photo highlights not a player or a play, but an entire game. It has been said the Rebels' upset over defending national champion Maryland in 1952 was the game that put Ole Miss on the football map. The Rebels' victory in Oxford propelled them to their first of eight Sugar Bowl appearances. Below is an aerial photo of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium during the game against Maryland. It is the earliest aerial shot of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium I have seen.

If you have a suggestion for a favorite player, play or something a little more creative you would like to see featured in the countdown, leave a comment below or shoot me an e-mail at desnowde@olemiss.edu.
