Today's entry is L.Q. Smith, a tight end on the 1977 Rebel squad. Smith caught a 48-yard pass against Notre Dame on a crossing route that set up James Storey's 10-yard score late in the forth quarter that propelled Ole Miss to a 20-13 over the No. 3-ranked Fighting Irish in Jackson.
Next up: It isn't a player or a coach, but most Rebel fans won't soon forget.
I'm 21 years old but I've heard from my parents how great that win over notre dame was! We gave the Irish their only loss of the season and made clear that no matter who you are you never count out the rebs.
