Gameday In The Grove?

As we inch closer to the season, it seems everyday someone asks me, “Is Gameday coming to The Grove this year?" And the answer is, we don't know.

A production crew from ESPN's uber-popular college football pregame show visited the Ole Miss campus this week to conduct an on-site survey for a possible visit by Corso, Fowler, Herbstreit and the gang. The crew scouted locations for setup of the stage, Home Depot bus and demo field, and discussed technical requirements with Ole Miss officials.

"It was an excellent opportunity to let ESPN know that Ole Miss can meet set location and footprint requirements should they select us to host Gameday," said Senior Associate Athletics Director Langston Rogers (aka my boss). "We had support personnel from all areas of the campus on hand to answer any questions the advance party may have had.

"Of course, there is no guarantee ESPN Gameday will be coming to Oxford, but it's encouraging that ESPN would come see The Grove and scout out a possible location. There is a lot of interest in this year's team, and success on the field will open the door for additional national exposure. Hosting ESPN Gameday would be a tremendous achievement for Ole Miss and we have a strategy in place to ensure a successful event on a national stage."
